“Melkkos” is a traditional South African supper dish. This is a simplified version that is prepared in no time in the microwave oven. A wonderful standby when the grocery cupboard is empty.

4 servings

Ingredients
1 litre milk
100 g cake flour
2,5 ml (1/4 teaspoon) salt
15 ml (1 tablespoon) butter
cinnamon
sugar

Method
1. Microwave the milk in a large container for about 10 minutes until it boils.
2. Meantime sift together the dry ingredients and rub in the butter.
3. Add the flour mixture all at once to the boiling milk and whisk until little lumps have formed.
4. Return to the microwave for 4 minutes at 100 % power. Stir once or twice in this period. Serve the “melkkos” steaming hot in soup plates and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar to taste.
