So as you know, Jess has been sick with hectic fevers and a seriously snotty nose... but my concern now is she is just not eating! I let it slide the first day, topping her up with extra formula, but then the second and third day, you start to worry a bit...
today this is what she ate:

bottle of formula on waking (165ml)
breakfast: about three mouthfuls of jungle oats and mashed banana
lunch: half a provita, about three mouthfuls of brown bread, possibly a mouthful of chicken and corn (if that) and some raisins... oh and a yoghurt (I threw away a nectarine, some grapes and some cherry tomatoes)
bottle of formula (125ml)
dinner: about 10 peas and half a block of kiri cheese (now for her to NOT finish kiri cheese, says ALOT!!!) and about three mouthfuls of apple (I threw away scrambled egg and toast fingers)
bottle of formula before bed (250ml)

what should I do? and is it ok that I keep topping her up with extra formula (she usually only gets about 80ml of cows milk in the afternoon and 225ml of formula before bed)... argh, why does it have to be so stressful?!

A while back M was sick and wouldn't eat at all maybe if I was lucky one bite of yoghurt then the doc told me as long as she is getting in enough fluids I shouldn't worry to much. He said I must give her energade for added energy and lots of milk(formula) and tea and she will be fine.

Don't think you should worry to much at least she is eating something!!

Thanks Melanie - ok - so she is still drinking normally... her formula, and loads of water... that's all she drinks really (don't give her juice and she's not that interested in rooibos) at least she loves her water and milk!
ok, feel a bit better now... hoping the eating will return to normal again, it is SO stressful when they don't want to eat, especially when they usually have such a healthy appetite which is what she did!

Wyatt also refuses to eat alot when he is sick and I don't worry to much. I try sneak in a bit of extra yogurt so that he atleast has something in his tummy. but when he feels better he eats again so i just go with him.

I'm glad she ate!!!

For future reference... don't worry about the eating at all. My daughter was 3 when she fell ill with Scarlet fever. It took the pead 5 days to diagnosed her, as she didn't display the "tell-tale" symptoms from the beginning. During that 5 days she ate NOTHING, and only drank about 50ml of energade A DAY! They did blood tests to see if we should admit her to hospital, but fortunately she was on the border still. So we kept her at home. On day 4th she had the rash and started to drink a bit, but it took her another WEEK before she ate anything! She literally ate about nothing for 10 days. And the pead wasn't too worried about that, as long as she drank at least 200ml (preferably 500ml) of energade a day. She only weighed about 11kg, so it wasn't even if she had any fat to spare. They did a sonar to see if all her organs were fine after being so ill, especially her kidneys as she had oedema.

Anyway, good luck, hope your daughter is all better soon!
