Cough
Does anybody know what to give for a really bad cough. Leschel coughed so bad until 4 this morning and then eventually fell asleep. I'm so tired. She has a very runny nose and discharge coming from her eyes. I'm positive she has an upper respiratory infection which scares me for pneumonia or bronchitis. I'm taking her to the doctor today. I'm very very worried. She atleast doesn't have a fever. I've been giving her Bronchoped for her cough but it's not working.
Anything else I can use?

Re: Cough
Bisolvin worked for Micheal. It loses the flem and discolves. Also helps for a sore keel.

Re: Cough
Ja, the doc gave me a Bisolvin generic for Luzaan last weekend and it sorted her out very quickly. Good luck. Hope she feels better.

Re: Cough
I've just posted a similar post QT - didn't see this one. Jaden has woken up with the same thing.. its just the worst. Hope Leschel gets better soon! I'm also debating whether or not to rush him to the doc.

Re: Cough
You can give her honey too for the cough. I've read in the Your Baby mag that they advise honey as a natural remedy for coughs from 1yr and older

Re: Cough
I always give Mucospect for a bad cough and you can also try Singulair - you need a script though. It is a small tablet that they can chew before they go to bed. It works very well for my kids. It opens up the airway and you give it for like two weeks every night. For a runny nose, i give Rinex - also works very well. Look very similar to mucospect. Shame man, hope she gets better soon.

Re: Cough
yes the singulair works great. I don't like giving wyatt cough meds so usually when he starts to cough i give him some of the venteze the pead gave me when he had bronchitus. That also works great but i think you also need a script.
Sorry not much help, just hope she feels better soon.

Re: Cough
I nebulise my kids (with saltwater and a tiny bit of ACC in it) just before bedtime, and I put the humidifier on with some eucolyptus oil.
Good luck, let us know what the doc says!

Re: Cough
Just came back from the doctor. Her one grommet fell out and she has ear infection. Everything else is sinus related and he gave me Corbar cough medicine. So I hope it works.

Re: Cough
O.k. I didn't know it would be THAT difficult putting ointment in a 3 year old's eye. My goodness. She's acting like she's traumaitised and snukking all over the place. Gees.

Re: Cough
Oh... I never realised you had ointment for her eye...
A tip from me QT... put it in when she's asleep. That way you can get the ointment under the eye lid.

Re: Cough
Thats what I do. I give Luzaan's meds when she is asleep. I squirt it in her mouth bietjie vir bietjie and then at least I know she gets it in.

Re: Cough
I'm lucky with Medicines, Zara just loves taking medicines. she opens her mouth for the dropper and sometimes bites down on it to massage her gums. hehehe

Re: Cough
They both drink their medicine without complaints (although Leschel used to be a nightmare with them) and now she';s just got used to ear drops but totally freaked out when I brought it close to her eye.

Re: Cough
But I also hate fidgeting in my eyes or putting anything in there.
I remember how terrible it felt when I had eye infection and had to put ointment in my eyes. Its so sticky and messy...
I got an ointment called Chlornicol (or something to that effect), in a little blue tube for Zara.

Re: Cough
probably something similar... and I think the wind over this past few days did some damage to zara's eyes too. she also had a little sticky eyes this morning.
Guest- Guest
Re: Cough
Yeah, it could be the wind then. But she's already 3. I wonder why her immune system is so down.
